What I Did on My Vacation . . .

I thought I’d show a couple of pictures I took in sunny Southern California for this post.

For you in India and China, I realize this traffic is nothing.  We did run into it heavier than this on the way back to LA from San Diego on Sunday afternoon, but it was still a shock to my system to have two carpool lanes and five regular lanes – and we were heading away from LA!

Despite the traffic, we really enjoyed ourselves.  The weather was great and the people were friendly.  The two days in Laguna Beach, we managed to spend a couple of lunches with Tom’s sister, Suzanne, as well as getting a tour of the area from her.

We had a good walk on the beach and managed to take in a sunset there – though we didn’t actually go all the way down to the beach, but remained on the top of the cliffs at a park to see it.

We spent the majority of our two days in San Diego at the zoo, and saw pretty much everything they had.  We’re not real big on reptiles, so we missed some of those, as well as some of the birds.  They had a great koala exhibit, and two pandas, too.  A baby panda had been born just before we arrived, but it won’t be exhibited for about 4 months.  The polar bear really put on a show for us when we came by, worrying a branch like a dog does a toy, and tossing it around for fun.  I’ve never seen one so active!

To get to the elephants, we had to make our way through some life-sized animal statues.  Just as we reached the fake elephant, a dad was positioning his little boy for a picture.  I couldn’t resist taking my own picture of him, pretending to be a grandparent!  Hope you enjoy his expression as we did, since he continued to say “cheese” from the moment his dad put him up until the photo was snapped!

We had a good time on our trip, but as we walked into the main part of the terminal in the Greensboro airport about 11:30 at night (picture almost no one around), when we passed the security person who keeps folks from coming down to the gate area, she greeted us with, “I’m glad you made it here safely.  Have a good night.”  I looked at Tom and said, “There’s no place like home!”

Jude 24-25 AMP  “ 24 Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight] – 25 To the one only God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory (splendor), majesty, might and dominion, and power and authority, before all time and now and forever (unto all the ages of eternity).  Amen (so be it).”
